Ceramicamente is the porcelain practice of Mirian Varela, based in Galicia, Spain.

Its name brings together cerámica and mente — ceramics and mind.

Working primarily with porcelain, Mirian develops pieces across the body and the space around it. 

At the centre of her work is an interest in opposites and the balance between them, not as fixed contrasts, but as things that must coexist within the same piece.

Porcelain becomes part of that exploration. A material that can appear delicate yet endure extreme heat, and that can move between fragility and strength, precision and unpredictability.

MIRIAN VARELA

Mirian Varela is the artist and maker behind Ceramicamente.

Originally trained in technology rather than fine arts, she came to ceramics through making and experimentation. Ceramicamente developed from the meeting of those two parts of her practice, thinking and making, curiosity and material.

She works from her studio in Galicia, Spain.
